The Secret of Focus Isn’t What You See
What? I thought the whole POINT of focus was what I chose to look at, right?
I mean, what I look at gets energized by my attention, it’s part of being mindful.
True, so true.
Then, there is the fact that while looking at ONE thing, we are NOT looking at Something Else. That Something Else is NOT getting energized.
โOnce I KNOW exactly what I’m going for, I can focus clearly on the pillars of that vision. This provides power by my intention to this intention. I can still use the Secret of Focus in the early stages of my journey too.
Say I already KNOW that my vision includes health practices that are not consistently present for me now. I could even argue that I don’t know what these healthy practices will be. I DO KNOW what some of them are NOT. I can use the Secret of Focus to spend less time thinking about or engaged with practices I already know need to be lessened in my future.
So what DO I focus on? Pick something interesting that is related to your goal, in this case health practices. It matters LESS whether the choice is ultimately the one you stay with for a decade as long as it’s CLOSER to your goal than the practice you know you need to shrink.
Then, there is the fact that while looking at ONE thing, we are NOT looking at Something Else. That Something Else is NOT getting energized.
โBy turning your focus to an intention closer to your dream, you automatically pull power away from what you want less of. This is the real Secret of Focus, its in what you don’t see.
